CGS Parents’ Association AGM – 13 October 2015
At the Parents` Association AGM on Tuesday the following people were elected onto the committee:
Chair Mark Agnew
Vice-Chair Carolyn Blanshard
Secretary Petra Bacon
Treasurer Tony Smith
Further elections of other representatives onto the committee were made to oversee all the various PA events and roles. It was great to have so many new parents volunteer. We are still looking for a parent to assist with running the Winter Draw with a view to taking over next year – please contact me if you can help.
I would like to thank those members of the PA who have put so much work into raising money for the school, especially those that have done so for many years and will be leaving the school next summer.
In the past year the PA has raised over £27,000. This would not have been possible without the donations and help of so many parents, staff, site staff and students.
The new school minibus delivered last October was funded entirely by the PA at a cost of £20,000. This year we have also funded photo equipment, chess clocks, Raspberry Pi computers, table tennis tables, a 3D printer, Yr 8 First Aid course, iPads for PE, DofE tents and 6th form newspapers.
Funding to the School continues to be a challenge, so the role of the Parents` Association in raising money to pay for equipment which will enhance the students’ learning experiences continues to be vital. We are about to launch a new appeal to assist with funding the expansion of the science teaching facilities. We will again need all your support to achieve our target. More on this very soon.
The Festive Evening will be taking place at Seaton Town Hall on December 9th, with the Winter Draw this autumn. Then we have the Silent Auction in March, the Garden & Food Fair on May 7th, the Summer Fete in July and the Big Colyton Art Show next October – all these events rely on your help to make them happen and raise funds for the School.
